Anacortes, WA:

Located outside the Anacortes Museum, this fountain was unveiled on November 26, 1906. It is made of cast iron and zinc, weighing almost 1000 pounds and standing nine feet tall. This fountain was given in memory to Carrie M. White who was president of the local WCTU. The restoration process began in the 1970s, and it was eventually unveiled on October 15, 2002. It’s inscription reads:

Dedicated to the public in memory of Miss Carrie M. White Third President of the WCTU of Washington Territory and First President of Anacortes WCTU by the members thereof.

Olympia, WA:

This fountain was originally erected in 1913 by the WCTU of West Washington. It was restored in 2000 with new plumbing, bubblers, and wheelchair accessibility. Its inscription at the base reads as followed:

Emma Page

1953-1910

Emma Page, although blind from an early age, wrote and lectured for the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, advocating for temperance, education of children, and kindness to animals (known in her time as the “dumb”). After her death in 1910, funds were raised statewide to install this fountain, complete with a drinking trough for animals, as a memorial to her work.

Originally placed in 1913, Reinstalled in 2000.
