This lamp post and fountain was erected on July 10, 1900. Several years after being struck by cars multiple times, the fountain disappeared. It was later replaced by a modern water installation.
Cranbury, NJ:
Located on Main Street on the shore of Brainerd Lake, this fountain was erected in 1907. Its inscription reads:
Presented by the WCTU 1907 / Restored 1979
Newton, NJ:
This fountain resides in Memory Park and was named in honor of Newton WCTU’s first president. Its inscription states:
The Catherine Ryterson McMurtrt Memorial Fountain and Built by the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union of Newton in loving memory of their first president Mrs. William McMurtrt.
Ocean City, NJ:
This fountain was presented to the city of Ocean City in 1912 on 9th Street and Asbury Avenue in front of City Hall.
Salem, NJ:
Erected in 1901, this fountain is located at the M. L. King, Jr. Mini Park at Market Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Its inscription reads as followed:
Let him that is athirst come. WCTU 1901.
