Originally erected on June 11, 1910, this fountain depicts a figure of a girl. It is now identified as the Children’s Temperance Fountain after a rededication on October 5, 1963. Today, the fountain stands at Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory in Belle Isle.

Lansing, MI:

In 1902, the Lansing, Michigan WCTU successfully raised $350 to purchase a block of Vermont granite to create this temperance fountain. The inscription on the fountain reads as followed: 

Frances E. Willard Memorial 

Erected by the Central WCTU

“I was thirsty and ye gave me to drink”

After being refurbished and moved to the Heritage Center, a rededication ceremony was held on September 21, 2003.

Lapeer, MI:

Standing at the Old Court House on Nepessing Street, this fountain was erected in 1906 by the 8th District WCTU of Michigan. On June 15, 1999, a rededication ceremony was held; an additional plaque was added that states:

Erected in 1906 by the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union standing for purity and truth since 1874. “Whosever will, let him take the water of Life freely.” Rev. 22:17 Rededicated - 1999.
