Erected in 1912, this temperance fountain was built by the WCTU of Arcata, which is inscribed on the sides of the fountain.

This WCTU temperance fountain was erected in 1908.

Glendora, CA:

The floral fountain of Glendora was erected in 1909.

Hanford, CA:

Located in Civic Park, on 315 N. Douty Street, this temperance fountain was presented by the WCTU in 1905.

Ontario, CA:

The WCTU dedicated the fountain to the city of Ontario on Independence Day, July 4, 1908 to provide the town with “a drinking fountain where only the pure, sparkling water can be had at any time by the thirsty one.”

Petaluma, CA:

This fountain was erected in 1891 and reads:

Erected 1891—Total abstinence is the way to handle the alcohol problem.

Santa Rosa, CA:

As one of the earliest temperance fountains, this fountain was erected in 1891.

Fowler, CA:

This fountain was erected in City Park, east of downtown Fowler.

Madera, CA:

On the corner of Yosemite Avenue and D Street, this fountain was erected in 1908. It was removed for cleaning in 2000 and reinstalled in 2003 due to the civic efforts of sixth graders at Sierra Vista School who were researching their city.

Reedley, CA.png

Reedley, CA:

Originally installed in 1909 on Main Street, the fountain was taken away while the city modernized and was later rededicated on October 9, 1999 after being donated to the Historical Society—the organization that also restored the fountain.

Riverside, CA:

This fountain was installed in 1907 on Mission Inn and Orange Street.

Selma, CA:

Originally placed at a main intersection, the Selma fountain was erected in 1913, but was later removed. A new fountain was created out of the river rocks from the original and is now located near a bandstand.

Watsonville, CA:

The WCTU donated this fountain in 1893, and it was modernized in 1913.

Beaumont, CA

Located in Veteran’s park of Beaumont, this simple fountain was erected on Christmas Day of 1910. The inscription on the fountain reads:
